Lilli Tagger delivered one of the strongest qualifying performances of the day at the Athens Open, defeating Madison Sieg in straight sets.
The top seed in qualifying won 6-0, 6-3, completing a dominant opening set before maintaining her advantage through the second.
Sieg was able to make the contest more competitive after failing to win a game in the first set, but Tagger remained in control and closed out the match without requiring a decider.
The victory earns Tagger a place in the main draw of the WTA 250 tournament in Athens. The event is being played on outdoor hard courts from 11 to 19 July.
